Obituary

COAKLEY Alan Eugene ~ Age 86, of Greenwood Square, Kings Co., passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on June 6, 1935, in Fairview, he was a son of the late Sidney and Gladys (Pitcher) Coakley. Alan had been the instructor in the Brick and Tile Program at the Vocational School in Middleton (which later became NSCC), retiring after 26 years of service. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 1, Middleton, where he would love to play cribbage. Surviving are his wife of 64 years the former Patricia L. Umlah; daughters, Heather (Ross) Ryan, Ottawa, Ont.; Allana (Brad Doran) Coakley, Belleville, Ont.; son, Craig (Maureen) Coakley, Greenwood; grandchildren, Alexander "Alex", Taylor, Sylvain, Natasha and Tori; great grandchildren, Wesson and Ryder; sisters, Sadie (Don) Umlah, Timberlea; Glady (the late Ron) Burke, Halifax; brothers, John (Elaine) Coakley, Fall River; James Coakley, Mt. Uniacke; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters and several brothers. Visitation will take place 7-9 p.m., Friday evening in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448. A private funeral service by invitation will take place in St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church, Middleton. Rev. Fr. John MacPherson officiating, with interment in North Kingston Cemetery. Due to current provincial pandemic restrictions, it is now required to show proof of ID and full vaccination at all visitations, indoor and outdoor ceremonies.
