Obituary

DECKER, Albert Clayton ~88, Middleton, Annapolis County, passed away March 20, 2026, in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in East Side of Ragged Island, N.S., Albert was a son of the late Clayton and Althea (Ringer)Decker. Albert joined the military at age of 18 after having waited a year as his mother would not let him apply at age 17. He devoted 22 years to the Canadian Armed Forces retiring as a Sergeant. His military postings were North Bay, ON, Baden, Germany, Greenwood, NS and Shearwater, NS. Having been a workaholic, used to going to work everyday, a close friend mentioned to Albert about a job opening with Purolator Courier, in which Albert went for an interview and started the very next day and worked for another 17 years in which he greatly enjoyed the interactions with the customers. Albert was a member of the Nictaux Fire Dept; was a Boy Scout Leader and involved with the Meadowvale Raceway. In retirement, Albert took an interest in carpentry, enjoying many hours working on various woodworking projects.  He was a "Mr. Fix It" known to all the community and friends. Albert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mildred "Millie" (Cammack) Decker; daughter, Debbie Comeau, Nictaux; son, Brian, Kentville; four grandchildren, Naomi, Richard, Victoria, Alisha; 11 great grandchildren, Mouad, Youssef, Nova Lynn, Jax, Peter, Isaac, Kyla, Myia, Aiyanna, Ben and Lily. Albert was predeceased by son, Mark, brother Harry. Private family graveside service will be held at a later date in the Nictaux Cemetery. Donations may be made to Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, NS.
