BIRRELL, Alexander "Alex" - 71yrs, of Lawrencetown, NS passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at home. Born in Scotland, he was the son of the late Alexander and Marion (Greenhorn) Birrell. Alex was a retired millwright with the construction industry. He was an avid reader and had a passion for antique cars and steam engines. He is survived by his daughters, Karen (Jason) Wood, Lawrencetown; Kirsty (Derek) Slauenwhite, Dartmouth; son, Alex (Wendy) Birrell, Hammonds Plains; their mother, Charlotte Birrell, Bedford; sisters, Margaret (Walter) Watt, Australia; Isobel Leishman, Scotland and grandchildren, Mackenzie, Anna, Max, Haley, Carley and Alex. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Tuesday, December 21, 2010 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. Pastor Patty Beals officiating.
