Obituary

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Alexander William Thomson on May 10, 2023. Taken from us far too young, he was a son, brother (in-law), doggy-dad, grandson, nephew, uncle, cousin and beloved friend to many. There are no words to express our grief and disbelief that this amazing and inspiring young person is gone too soon.

Alec was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on June 29, 2000, to proud parents Bob and Cheryl Thomson. He spent half of his childhood growing up in Fall River, Nova Scotia and the other half in Windsor Forks, Nova Scotia. Throughout the years, Alec could be found on Martock Ski Hill competing for the high school race team, 4H competitions or in the kitchen learning all his mom's favorite recipes. He loved to swim in the ocean and fish in the Avon River- often catching fish with his hands! You could also find him driving around poking his head out of his 1962 Triumph Spitfire convertible, a passion he shared with his brother Matt.

Alec excelled in his high school education, graduating with honors with distinction and his post-secondary education at Dalhousie University. He played the trumpet (just like his dad) in the Windsor Sea Cadets RCSCC Agamemnon. He also had a love for playing piano and a remarkable talent for the theatre and his many musicals.

Alec was an extremely hard worker and excelled at any job he did. This included his first job at Martock and subsequent jobs bartending and serving where he was known throughout the different communities for his outgoing personality and charismatic charm.

After living in Nova Scotia, Alec made the adventurous decision to drive across country with his brother Nathan and friend Michael to live in downtown Vancouver, Canada. Seeing the country from one-side to the other, Alec developed a love and appreciation for his country that sparked a new interest for travel. While living in Vancouver, he began studying to become a Certified Massage Therapist and become the next "Phoebe Buffet"- a character from Friends- a show he loved watching with his sister Laura.

To say that Alec will be missed by many would be a huge understatement. His zest for both life and people have encouraged and warmed the hearts of many throughout numerous communities. His kind-hearted nature and his willingness to accept and love everyone he met can never be replaced. His bashful yet illuminating smile and his warm hugs will be missed by everyone. We know he is up in heaven smiling down on all of us!

Alec is survived by his loving parents Bob and Cheryl Thomson; his brothers Matthew (Lindsey) Thomson, Nathan Thomson and sister Laura Thomson; his most prized possession, his dog Louie; nieces Kiana, Katelyn, Evelyn, Elizabeth and Allison; his grandmother Muriel Smith "Grammie Go-Go" and his other grandmother Jean Thomson. Alec is also survived by his many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is predeceased by his grandfathers Allison Smith "Bumpy", Alexander Thomson and his uncle William Smith "Billy".

A funeral will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday June 1, 2023, at Evergreen Theatre 1941 Stronach Mountain Rd, East Margaretsville. A private family graveside burial will be held at Church Grove Cemetery. Reception to follow. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Epilepsy Canada or to your local SPCA.  The online guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
