BEST, Alice Mabelle "Betty" - age 84 of Weston, Kings Co., passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2014, at home. Born in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Charles Edward and Elizabeth Jane "Bessie" (Harvey) Herbert. Betty was an avid quilter and knitter. She had been a member of the Weston Women's Institute and was devoted to her family and friends. Surviving are her children, Greg, (Brenda) Melvern Square; Herb, New Glasgow; Bill (Mary), Charlottetown, PEI; Wayne (Leslie), Weston; Holly, Grimshaw, Alta.; Bob (Karlyne), Bentville; Murray (Kellie), Weston; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, June Herbert, Cambridge; Pauline Warren, Black Rock; brother, Bill (Yvonne) Herbert, Sherwood Park, Alta.; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Clyde Allison Best. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 10, in the Berwick & District Volunteer Fire Hall, 300 Commercial St., Berwick. Rev. Elizabeth Johnson officiating, with burial in the Berwick Cemetery. No flowers by request, donations in her memory may be made to the Weston Community Hall.
