Obituary

FORSYTH, A. "Leona" of Middleton and formerly of Nictaux, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018 in the Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Centre at the age of 101. Born in Aylesford, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Jean (Hiltz) Selfridge. Leona graduated from K.C.A, Kentville after which she was employed with the Metropolitan Store, Kentville as a clerk and office assistant for seven years before her marriage to Carl R. Forsyth. Leona was a member of St. James W.A. Anglican Church, Kentville.  Later she moved to Kingston, where she was one of the founding members of All Saints Anglican Church and acted as President of the W. A.  Leona moved to Middleton in 1962 and acted as Directors of the Altar Guild for many years and president of the A.C. W. (Afternoon Branch). In her younger years Leona was an avid hockey fan and enjoyed skating and dancing. She devoted her life to raising her family. Surviving is one daughter, Carolyn Grant, Middleton; three sons, Wayne (Beth) Forsyth, Nictaux; Arthur (Debbie) Forsyth, New Minas; Stephen (Patti) Forsyth, Nictaux.  Leona is survived by five grandsons, Andrew (Danika) Grant; Colin (Heather) Forsyth; Paul (Ranah Gitsels) Forsyth; Adam (Holy Samson); and Anthony Forsyth 1 granddaughter, Carla (Rafe Taylor) Forsyth; 1 step grandson, Matthew (Wendy Crouse) Connell and 1 step granddaughter; Kimberly (Marc) Dondale.  She has 2 great grandsons; Finn Grant and Quinn Forsyth and 1 great granddaughter; Piper Grant; and 3 step great-grandsons; Adrian Dondale; Trent and Wesley Connell, and 1 step great-granddaughter; Emma-Leigh Dondale. Besides her parents, Leona was predeceased by her husband, Carl R. Forsyth.  She is the sole remaining member of her immediate family, being predeceased by her brother Lewis Selfridge and sisters, Phyllis Bishop, Jean Matthews, and Norma Lantz. As per Leona's request cremation has taken place.  A Memorial Service will be held at 3 pm, Saturday, April 7th in Holy Trinity Church, Middleton with Rev. Paul Jennings officiating. Interment will be at Old Holy Trinity Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will follow the interment. Donations in memory may be made to the Old Holy Trinity Church Charitable Trust or a charity of your choice.
