Amy "Joyce"
Mcrae
February 27, 1932 – March 22, 2023
McRae, Amy "Joyce" - Aged 91, of South Farmington, passed away peacefully at home with her daughter Nancy by her side, on March 22, 2023. Born February 27, 1932 in Campbellton, New Brunswick, Joyce was the daughter of the late Roy and Violet (Barnes) Parlee. As a military wife for over thirty years, Joyce often took on double-duty parenting of their six children when it came time for husband Dave to be away for work. She experienced postings to bases in Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. She was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother, frequently heard to say, "I love my kids." Joyce greatly loved and appreciated her children's spouses, and was a supportive, beloved Grandma, Nanny, and GG to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An avid reader with a witty, well-tuned sense of humour, she also enjoyed decades-long friendships, cherishing visits and phone calls. Three special friends counted among that list include Marion Dicks, Judy Pearson, and Tim Woods. Joyce was a born storyteller with a sharp memory for the details, and loved a good cup of tea and a favourite rerun of The Waltons or Little House on The Prairie. Each night, she took special care to say her prayers, and each day, sought to live life on her own terms, embracing positivity and humour as much as possible. Joyce is survived by her son James, St. Isidore, ON; her daughters, Linda (Frank) Hudgins, Victoria Vale, NS, Nancy (John) Cohoon, Tremont, NS, Sandra (Andre Pepin) Foley, Prescott, ON, Debbie Woods, Ottawa ON; grandchildren, Christina, Shelly, David, Sarah, Jessica, Ashley, Travis, Jenna, and Caitlin; several great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, as well as her sister Tori and brother Buddy. Joyce was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Dave, and her beloved daughter, Donna Hudgins; as well as her sisters Charlotte, Shirley, and Betty, and her brother, Bobby. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at a later date in Campbellton, New Brunswick. Donations in Joyce's memory can be made to a charity of choice. Special thanks to Dr. Amanda Smith, and emergency responders, Alex, Kelsey, and Simon, in gratitude for their kindness and care.
