Andre Bernhardt Elieff ~ age 83, passed away "kicking, but not hard", on Sunday, March 16, 2025, in the Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, NS, after a short illness. He was born in Halifax, NS, on January 20, 1942. He is predeceased by his parents, Anna (Hermann) and Peter Elieff; brother, Peter Elieff; and son, Ivan Elieff. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Marcia (Stronach); sister, Anne Nash; son, Stefan (Penny) Elieff; daughter, Natasha (Steven) McInnis; daughter-in-law, Annette; grandchildren, Emily, Ava, Isla, Ewan and Kaitlinn; and several nieces and nephews.
Andre joined the RCAF in November 1960 and served for 34 years, retiring with the rank of Major. Trained as a radio navigator, he cross trained to become a pilot, flying the Argus on Maritime Patrol and the Labrador for Search and Rescue. His career saw him posted across the country. His favourite was the time spent as the Commanding Officer of the 103 Rescue Unit in Gander, NF. He spent his retirement years volunteering at VP (Maritime Patrol) International and the Greenwood Military Aviation Museum for grade six flight education.
Cremation has taken place. No viewing or service according to his wishes. A graveside service for family and close friends will be held at a later date, in North Kingston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. www.middletonfuneralhome.com
