Born June 25, 1929, in Leewarden, the Netherlands, Ann's formative years were spent in Holland during the Great Depression and Second World War. While studying social work she met her husband Jan (John) Arendz, the two were married in 1957, immigrated to Canada in 1958, and shortly after settled in Middleton to raise a family.

At the Zwicker's Lake cottage, she always had a good laugh over a game of cards and loved to swim ( to the 3 rd rock, an accomplishment she maintained until she was 88). In addition to her family, Ann was proud to contribute to Middleton's Centennial year celebrations in 1967, was actively involved in the Middleton Regional High School Band's Parent Association and played piano for Jenny Verfaillie's ballet school in Greenwood.
The family wishes to thank all of the Doctors, nurses and support staff of Soldier's Memorial Hospital, Middleton, NS, and Dr. Paul McLean (family doctor) for their kindness during her final days.
