Obituary

BALCOM, Arthur Burlin Jr. ~ Age 76, of New Minas, Kings Co., N.S., passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on October 8, 1949, in Halifax, he was a son of the late Arthur B. and Dorothy E. (Cleveland) Balcom. Arthur had been employed at Berwick Bakery, then at M.W. Graves Ltd., Berwick, and later at Safety First as a Flagman until his retirement. He was a former associate member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 69, Berwick. Arthur enjoyed hunting, black powder shooting, fishing trips and playing bingo with Joyce. He also like playing darts and listening to music. Arthur was the life of any party and there was never anyone he met that he didn't like. Surviving are his wife of 50 years the former G. Joyce Mossman; daughters, Tina (Brian) Bennett, Ontario; Carrie Yeaton, Kentville; grandchildren, Jasmone Yeaton (James), Kentville; Marcus Yeaton, Newport; several nieces and nephews including Burlin and Jason Nickerson. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Brenda (Gerald) Nickerson; Dale (Bill) Bishop; brother-in-law, Gilbert Mossman. There will be no visitation or service. A private interment will take place in Berwick Cemetery, Main Street, Berwick. Donations in his memory may be made to Diabetes Canada or to Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the staff in the emergency department and intensive care unit at Valley Regional Hospital for their care and compassion shown to Arthur.
