MacLean, Arthur Dorman ~84, of Margaretville, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 18, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was a son of the late Thomas and Minnie (Dorman) MacLean. Arthur spent his whole life in Margaretville, farming and working in the saw mill. He was an active member of the Margaretville & District Volunteer Fire Department for 50 years; a past Sub-Ranger with the Department of Lands & Forests, and he maintained the fire pump in Margaretville area for many years. Arthur was a lifelong member of the Margaretville United Church as well as being superintendent of the Bayview Cemetery for 40 years. In his retirement, he enjoyed making maple syrup with his grandchildren, fishing with friends and he and Hannah operated A&H MacLean's Bed and Breakfast for many years. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret (Larry) Finley, Margaretville; his sons Peter (Ann), Elbow SK; Glenn (Debbie), Dartmouth; David (Jane), Cambridge; his sister Ruth Burgess, Wilmot; sister-in-law Betty MacLean, Charlottetown; his grandchildren, Sam (Naomi), Luke (Rachel), Scott (Kaitlyn), Nikolas, Nathan (Breanna), Colin, Duncan, Julie and Maegan; and great grandson, Ezra. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, the former Hannah Lytle and his brother, David. Visitation will be held 6:30 -8:30pm Thursday, August 23, 2018 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. Funeral service will be held 2:00pm Friday, August 24, 2018 in the Margaretville United Church with Rev. Eugene Foster officiating. Private Family Interment will be in the Bayview Cemetery, Margaretville. A reception for family and friends will take place in the Margaretville Fire Hall. Donations in memory of Arthur may be made to the Margaretville & District Fire Department or the Margaretville United Church.
