Obituary

MOORE, Arthur William -95, of Freeport, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in Tideview Terrace, Digby. Born in Freeport, he was a son of the late Edwin and Hattie (Langthorne) Moore. Arthur lived a very full life and will be sadly missed by his family and also his friends at Tideview where he was everybody's dance partner. In his younger years he was a fisherman and worked on the freighters. Arthur was a veteran of the Second World War having served with the Nova Scotia Highlanders as a gunner. He was stationed in England at the reinforcement depot during the war and then on to Holland as part of the Occupational Army until 1946. Arthur was a life member of the Capriquet Legion Branch #92. In his later years he enjoyed the times spent with family and friends and could always be found at the fire hall playing pool. Arthur was an avid deer hunter when Gordon or one of the Moore boys called he came running. He is survived by his sons, Gordon (Lisa), Barton, Digby Co. and William (Robert Niekamp), Calgary, AB; granddaughters, Jacinta and Gemma Moore; brother, Ivan (Janet) Moore, Freeport and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife the former Helen Stanton; sisters, Edith and Nellie; brothers, Robert and Irvan. Visitation will be held 7-9 P.M. Sunday, September 23, 2012 in the Freeport Baptist Church, Freeport where the funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 24, 2012 with Rev. Rick Small officiating. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, Freeport. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
