Obituary

WHEATON, Arthur Gerald ~ 93, Grafton, Kings County, passed away March 9, 2026, in the Veterans Wing, at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Harbourville, N.S., he was a son of the late Charles and Alice (Foley)Wheaton. Arthur grew up on the Baseline Road in Harbourville, having lost his mom at just the young age of five, he and his siblings grew up fast, dealing with life's challenges as his father worked to support and keep the family going. Despite Arthur having some disabilities, he persevered and through hard work and persistence he remained alone having his own farm raising cattle, as well as working on other various farms throughout the Valley. Milking cows for 17 years, he never missed a day of work. Once asked about sick days, Arthur replied that if sick, he would lay on a bail of hay for a break, then right back to milking cows. He worked for ACA Co-op in the Egg Division for a number of years. Athur had a keen interest in local politics and all elected officials. He kept track of their names and where they were located within the province. He had an unforgettable and contagious laugh, always in a good mood and happy. He enjoyed fiddle music. His icon was Natalie MacMaster, who once corresponded with him by letter, in which he was enthused by her taking the time. Arthur was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by brothers, Aubrey, Elwood, George, William, Joseph; sisters, Helen Bosworth, Pauline Jordan, Ruth Chandler, Vera Geddes. There will be no services by request.
