It’s with great sadness we announce the passing of Aubrey Clarence Whitman, 77, from Bridgetown – Mountains and Meadows, formerly from Inglisville, on September 29, 2026, at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, with his sister by his side.
Born November 28, 1948, in the Whitman homestead in Inglisville, Aubrey was the oldest son to Lawrence Sr and Bertha (Connell) Whitman.
Aubrey is survived by son Jim, Vancouver; brother Lawrence Jr “Sonny” (Sue Hewlin), Herring Cove; sisters, Phyllis (Kevin)McLean, Lequille; Dale, Dartmouth; nieces, Carol, Cindy, Natasha and Tia; nephews, Jim, John, Greggory, Kody (Melanie), Kolin (Kate); and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Aubrey was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Nelson); his companion for many years, Diane; sisters, Terry Silver, Jean Stoddart, Joan Connell; brother-in-law, Gordon Silver; and niece, Jacqueline.
Aubrey worked as a labourer most of his life. He worked in the woods with Dad and worked at Allen’s Mill in Middleton. He also worked for several years for NS Dept of Lands and Forests, and from 1971-2002 in the fire tower in Hampton until retirement.
In his younger years, he loved to hunt and fish. Aubrey always had a story. He loved to play music and go to music jams and although he enjoyed the music, he enjoyed the company just as much.
Aubrey was part of the Mountains and Meadows family for over 8 years. Everyone knew Aubrey. He enjoyed his time with the staff and residents at Mountain and Meadows, and they were like a family to him.
