Audrey Evangeline
Barteaux
October 13, 1933 – May 17, 2026
Audrey Evangeline (nee Hudson) Barteaux of Moschelle, NS died peacefully in Annapolis Royal Nursing Home on May 17, 2026, at the age of 92 years. Predeceased by her parents, Herbert and Lena (nee Buckler) Hudson, her younger brothers Harvey and Sherman Hudson, and her husband of 32 years, Neil Barteaux.
She was born in Karsdale, Nova Scotia on October 13, 1933, and lived in Moschelle, outside of Annapolis Royal, for much of her life. In her early adulthood, she worked at the local store and then later provided childcare to the five children of her boss. After her marriage to Neil, she became a stay-at-home mother to her three children, Bruce (Bonnie), Clyde (Janet), and Nancy (Ron Arenburg). Her five grandchildren, Jonathan Barteaux, Stephanie (Curtis) LeBlanc, Megan (Joseph) O'Neill, Olivia (Everett) Pattison, and Brianne Barteaux (William Luton), brought delight to her life, as did her great-grandchildren, Ivy and Luna O'Neill. She was also a wonderful stepmother to Melva Barteaux. She took care of her neighbours' children, and then her own granddaughters, bringing joy to their lives. She took pleasure in numerous sports, including bowling, darts, pool and golf. Audrey was very artistic and musical. She loved to sing and play her guitar and was even inspired to write songs on occasion. A talented artist, she enjoyed painting and writing poetry. She was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 21, and liked to travel, especially on cruises. Audrey was an active organizer, looking after the Seniors' Games groups, including various trips to National events. She was very proud of her participation in the Canada Senior Games where she competed in darts and bowling in Portage La Prairie Manitoba, Brampton Ontario and Dieppe New Brunswick. She lived a full life and was always willing to lend a hand to help those around her. She was well loved and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to express gratitude to the staff of Annapolis Royal Nursing Home for the loving care they gave her during the last eight years of her life.
