November 19, 1930 – October 31, 2019
BALSOR, B. Marion ~ Age 88, of Black Rock, Kings Co., passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2019, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Viewmount, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Frederick Chester and Genevieve Leona (Howell) Sweeney. Marion was a loving wife and an outstanding mother. As well as being a home maker caring for her family, she also helped her husband, Myles, at their fish house and weir and assisted in the delivery of fish to various places in the area. Marion loved to knit mittens especially for her grand and great grandchildren who will miss receiving them. She was a member of Black Rock Baptist Church and Black Rock Jolly Workers Sewing Circle. While living in Margaretsville, Marion had attended church there as well as bible studies and was involved in the W.M.S. She had lived in various places including Black Rock, Port George, Margaretsville, Cambridge and her final days as a resident of Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Surviving are daughter, Wendy (Richard) Strong, Lakeville; sons, Wayne (the late Donna) Balsor, Black Rock; Gary (the late Ardena) Balsor, Cambridge; grandchildren, Dean, Darren, Dana, Darcee, Mallory, Kala and Chad; great grandchildren, Dawson, Dakota, Cody, Rowen, Kelsy, Karsen, Ava, Hudson and Myles; sister, Beatrice (the late Alan) Whittier, Somerset; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Myles A. Balsor; daughter, Joy Lynn Balsor; son, Merle Balsor; sisters, Eleanor Coleman, Helen Wagstaff, Shirley Clem, Freda MacDonald and Hilda Ruggles; brothers, Robert, Ronald and Kenneth Sweeney. There will be no visitation. A private graveside service for family and relatives will take place in East Black Rock Cemetery, with Rev. Marie McCallum officiating. Family flowers only, donations in her memory may be made to Black Rock Baptist Church, Diabetes Canada or Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville.
