May 24, 1943 – July 7, 2022
Acker, Barbara Marion, 79 of Middleton, Nova Scotia, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022, in Soldiers Memorial Hospital.
Born in Kingston, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Banford and Rita (England) Freeman. Barb was a caregiver to many- her mom, dad, father-in-law, and many others along the way. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved hearing about all their achievements and even their disappointments. She loved her cats, all nine of them. She also loved the dog, Honey, that belonged to her friend and companion, Gerald Pearse, who always took her for drives and always brought her chocolates, flowers and took her to music jams.
She was a past volunteer of the Multi Addiction Centre, North Kingston for many years, working side by side with her husband, Russ as he was called at the MAC.
She is survived by son, David Acker, Middleton, who took care of her for many years in every way until she went to the hospital. He was her guiding light until the end; daughter, Sandra (Harold) White, Nictaux; son Mike Acker (Bonnie McCullough), Nictaux; daughter Cindy (Alan) Burns, South Farmington. She also was there to lend a hand when she could with cleaning house, taking her shopping, etc. She is also survived by brother, Donald (Jocelyn) Freeman, Nictaux, grandchildren, Bradley (Melissa) White, Nictaux Falls, Amanda White (Becky Brown), Middleton, George and Raymond Burns, South Farmington, Great grandchildren Cameron and Morgan White, Nictaux Falls, and Brady White, Middleton, many nieces, and nephews. Special longtime friend, Marilyn Hibbs and companion Gerald Pearse.
She was predeceased by her husband, Russell David Acker, son, Roger William Acker, brothers Earl, Ralph, and Robie, sisters Florence and Maxine.
Visitation will be held 6-8PM Saturday, July 9, 2022 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448 where the funeral service will be held 3:00PM Sunday, July 10, 2022, with Rev. Leon Langille officiating. Interment will be in the North Kingston Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will follow the service.
