BEST (Thomas), Barbara Ruth - age 80, Aylesford East, Kings Co., died peacefully on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Grand View Manor, Berwick, with her family by her side. Born in Aylesford East, on February 27, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Starr Paige and Mary Alberta "Mayme" (Creemer) Thomas. Barb worked as a nurse's aide at Western Kings Memorial Hospital, Berwick, for a number of years. Barb enjoyed travelling and did so extensively; two of her favorites were New Zealand and an Alaskan Cruise. She had a quiet demeanor and a great sense of humor. Barb was an avid bridge player and enjoyed golfing. She was proud of her children and grandchildren. Barb was the last surviving member of her immediate family and will be deeply missed by her children, Terry (Robyn) Red Deer, Alta; Starr (Debbie) Woodville; Mary Ella Cleveland, Lake George; Michael (Cathy) Harmony; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by husband, Carl Reginald; son, Timothy Carl; son-in-law, Edward Cleveland; brothers, Manson, Robert and Blakie Thomas; sister, Reta Sawlor. Visitation will take place at Aylesford United Church, 2414 Hwy No.1, Aylesford, on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 2-4 pm, where funeral will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014, at 2 pm. Rev. Brenda Nesbitt officiating, assisted by Rev. Dr. Judith Saunders with a reception following at the church hall, burial in the Aylesford Union Cemetery.
