Barbara Irene Durling's Obituary
Durling, Barbara Irene ~ 97, formerly of Torbrook Mines, NS, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 17, 2025 in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Torbrook Mines, she was a daughter of the late John and Jennie (Fredericks) Stevens.
Barbara spent most of her life in Torbrook Mines and had a fond love for the community. She enjoyed card parties, sewing circles and the hospital auxiliary. Barbara was a wonderful cook spending hours going through cookbooks. She had a fantastic memory whose world revolved around her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, word puzzles, crafts, and playing cards. Barbara was a hard worker and a great mother. Friday night sleepovers with her great great granddaughter Holly were so precious to her.
Surviving are her daughters, Phyllis, Margaret, and Beverly; grandchildren, Sandra, Deanna, Laurie, Leslie (Les), Veronica, Jacqueline, Gary, and Natalie; 13 great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; as well as many extended family members.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband Gordon Crouse; second husband Harry Durling; sister Geraldine Banks; brothers William (Bill); Darrell (Jackie); Curtis; Lloyd; Burton and Douglas.
A heartfelt thank you to all the nursing staff, Dr. Sarah Surette, Melissa Stoddart, Nurse Practitioner and VON Annapolis Valley for all their care and compassion shown to Barbara.
In keeping with Barbara's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place in Torbrook United Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to Torbrook Baptist Church or a charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448.
