Obituary

Godin, Barbara Monica – 76, of Greenwood Square, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a long and arduous battle with cancer Friday April 26, 2019 at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, N.S. Born in Halifax she was a daughter of the late Jerome and Gwendolyn (Eisan) Fitzgerald. As a military wife, Barbara was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. She enjoyed baking, cooking, crocheting and knitting. In her early years she coached ringette making many lifelong friendships. Barbara volunteered her time to many organizations through the years and recently enjoyed her time with the Kingston Lions Club.  She was an amazing caregiver to many and devoted countless hours comforting them in their time of need.  She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all those who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, George Godin, Greenwood Square, daughters, Sherry (Lee) Armstrong, Aylesford, Joan (Pierre) Lampron, Fall River; sons, George (Laura), Lawrencetown, Daniel (Tammy), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Shawn, Shane (Hailee), Krista, Holly, David (Camilla), Kelsey, Megan, Kyle, Haley, Devin (Laura); great grandchildren, Paige, Peyton and Maisy. Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her son, David Godin; sister, Joyce Hawley; son-in-law, Wesley Jordan. A celebration of Barbara's Life will be held from 2-4 pm Friday May 3, 2019 at the Kingston Lions Club 1482 Veteran's Lane, Kingston. A private family interment will be held at a later date in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main St., Middleton 902-825-3448. For the past seven years Barbara had many caregivers; the family sends a special thank you to Dr. Karen Burch and Katrina and the entire Palliative Care team, Valley V.O.N. , local paramedics, staff of Soldier's Memorial Hospital and Valley Regional Hospital, Dr. MacKinnon, Dr. Surette,  Dr. Morzycki and Suzanne  and Dr. Merryweather and her staff for the outstanding care given to Barbara.
