Barbara Jeanne
Hug
February 28, 1928 – June 7, 2019
HUG (Cox), Barbara Jeanne ~ of Bridgetown. We are saddened by the loss of a dear mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend - after a long, healthy and active life, Barbara passed away peacefully on June 7, 2019, at the age of 91. Barbara was born on February 28, 1928 and grew up in Middleton, attended MacDonald School in Middleton and graduated in 1944. In 1946, she met and married Jim and they moved to Montreal where they raised their family. In 1976, Barbara and Jim took early retirement, moved to Bridgetown and bought a farm - something Jim always dreamed of doing. They enjoyed life on the farm and endeavoured to share that love with their children and grandchildren. In addition to working diligently in the home and on the farm, Barbara was a loyal Jehovah's Witness for over 60 years. Sharing her faith with others brought her much happiness and she enjoyed many close friendships. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Richardson (predeceased by her husband Bob); son, Bruce and daughter-in-law Janet; grandson, Jeremy Harvey; granddaughters, Christina (Stephen) Illsley and Nicole (Justin) Daley; great grandchildren, Olivia, Sophie and Benjamin; sister, Marilyn McManus (Robert) the two of them shared a special, lifelong friendship, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, James (Jim) Hug in 2012; her parents, Raleigh and Beatrice Cox; as well as her brothers, John and Stephen. Barbara's family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses, doctors and staff of Soldiers Memorial Hospital for their kind and compassionate care as well as all of the lovely notes and well wishes from her friends while she was in the hospital. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 12th at 2:00PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 337 Highway 1, Kingston, with Mr. Aaron Laevens officiating. By request, family flowers only please. Online guest book may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
