Barbara Jean
Solsman
November 20, 1959 – March 12, 2026
My baby sister, Barbara Jean Solsman, formerly of Brickton, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026, at her home at Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. She was 66.
To me, she'll always be my baby sister Barbie, and I'll always be her big sister Bette. To everyone else, she preferred being addressed simply as Barb.
Barbie was the youngest child born to Ted and Joan Solsman of Brickton, NS. She is survived by her big sister Bette, brother Zane, nieces Katharine and Amie and nephew Billy.
Barb lived her life both quietly and thoughtfully, she spoke softly and showed an easy kindness to others.
She attended early education at LCS and graduated from Middleton Regional High School's Academic Program upon completing her high school requirements.
Barb faced health challenges in her lifetime, meeting these with quiet resolve.
A diagnosis of early onset Dementia in her last years ultimately proved to be her most difficult challenge of all.
Special thanks to the nursing staff at Mountain Lea Lodge who tended my sister Barbie… you are remarkably trained caregivers, and we are so grateful to you all. She was well known & lovingly cared for.
Thanks also to Tom Spinney at the Middleton Funeral home for his exemplary care and compassion.
In keeping with Barb's wishes, there will be no funeral service.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Online guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
