Obituary

Born in Halifax, NS, Barry spent the first year and a half of his life in Moser River, NS, to the late Charles R. and Mary (Bezanson) Lowe. Barry joined the Royal Canadian Armed Forces in 1967 as a Vehicle Technician with the Mechanical Engineers. After his first of two tours to Germany, Barry was posted to CFB Greenwood, NS, where he met and married the love of his life Valerie Jean Young. Shortly after they married, Barry was posted to Petawawa ON, and then it was back to Germany, where daughter Shannon Dawn and son Christopher Lee were born.

Barry was also posted to CFB Winnipeg, MB and CFB Shelburne, NS, before his final posting to CFB Gagetown, NB. Once retired, Barry and Valerie moved to Nictaux, NS, where they bought their retirement home however, Barry wasn't one to sit still, after retirement he continued to work as a mechanic and later, logged out in the woods.

Barry was a friend of Bill W. and was in dedicated service for 42 years, until his passing. Barry was also a member of the Veterans UN-NATO Canada, Fundy Shore Region. And was equally dedicated to supporting his fellow Veterans. His presence and unmistakable laugh will be greatly missed whenever they gather.

Barry is survived by Valerie his loving wife of 52 years; his brother, Brian and sister, Wanda, Dartmouth; his chosen daughter, Erin Scott, and his adored chosen grandchildren, Lucas Scott and Adrianna Ward -nee Scott and husband Jordan, as well as brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Barry is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Mary Lowe; infant daughter, Shannon Dawn (10 months); and infant son, Christopher Lee (three months).

Barry will be remembered for his smile, humor, quick wit and larger than life personality. He was always ready and willing to help, whenever and wherever he could, a jack of all trades, a great mechanic, he could fix anything from a tank to a kiddie cart and guaranteed to have the tool you need. He will be desperately missed by those who love him.

Special thanks to Kevin Scott and Alfred and Candace Burt, for their love and care, and to the nurses and medical staff in the ICU at Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, for your exceptional care of him and his family.
