Spinney, Beatrice Mary – 91, of Fundy Villa, Berwick, formerly of Kingston, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2026 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville with her daughter by her side. Born in Middleton, she was the eldest daughter of the late Lorimer and Annie (Spinney) Woodbury.
Beatrice graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, NS and loved working in her nursing profession both in Nova Scotia and Mass. USA. She also worked for a number of years as a medical receptionist. Bea was proud to represent the Village of Kingston as a princess in 1952 in the Apple Blossom Festival. In 1957, Bea married the love of her life, Eugene Spinney. They had three children and Beatrice enjoyed motherhood and all the activities it brought. Five grandsons followed and she was deeply proud of each one. Bea enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and going for drives through the valley and all over Nova Scotia especially to Port George and the Look Off. She was a lifetime member of the Kingston Baptist Church.
Surviving is her daughter, Phyllis Dukeshire, Aylesford; son, Darrell (Brenda), Greenwood; son-in-law, Roy Harding (Patty), Cottage Cove; sister, Laura Hatch, British Columbia; grandsons, Alan Coleman; Josh (Laura) Coleman; Scott Harding; Adam Harding (Charline Arsenault); Tanner (Jess) Spinney; great grandchildren, Kaylyn, Lincoln, Emerson, Charlotte, and Tucker. Beatrice loved her many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law as well as her special nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Eugene; infant granddaughter; daughter, Joan Harding; son-in-law, Elwood Dukeshire; brother-in-law, Tom Hatch; stepbrother, Carl Marshall (Colleen). The family wishes to extend their thanks to the doctors and nurses at Valley Regional Hospital and all the caregivers at Fundy Villa.
In keeping with Bea’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, 1-855-825-3448. Rev. Elizabeth Amirault officiating. Private family interment will be in North Kingston Cemetery. Donations in memory of Bea may be made to Valley Regional Hospital Foundation.
