Obituary

BOWLBY, Bernice Muriel - age 89 of West Paradise, Annapolis County, NS passed away Monday, October 6, 2014 at Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, with family by her side. Born October 10, 1924, Bernice was the third oldest child of Robert Bath Bent and Leila Bernice (Poole) Bent (Outhouse). Bernice will be remembered for her love for her family. She was a member of the Paradise United Baptist Church. Bernice taught in one room schools in rural areas before she married. In later years, she tinted many of her husband's varied photographs. Bernice enjoyed reading about the Royal Family and Egyptian history and she loved birds and animals. Bernice is survived by her grieving sons, Ewart Donald Bowlby, Munster, ON and Robert Harold Bowlby, Hammonds Plains, HRM, NS; sisters Madelyn (Gerry) Patterson, Berwick, NS and Joan (Charles) Lane, Halifax, NS; grandchildren Donald (Amie) Bowlby, Richard (Shannon) Bowlby, Amanda (Rick) Turner, Christopher Bowlby, Graham (Shawna) Bowlby; four adored grandchildren Zane, Presley, Hannah and Chloe and many nephews and nieces. Besides her parents, Bernice was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Donald Marden Bowlby; sisters Marjorie (Deblois) Walker, West Paradise, Lois Simms, West Paradise, Freda (Rob) Lambright, AB., Martha Bent, West Paradise and brother Donald (Dorothy) Bent, Round Hill. By request Cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. However, there will be a gathering in celebration of Bernice's life Thursday, October 9th, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 PM at the West Paradise Community Hall. Donations in Bernice's memory may be made to the West Paradise (Evergreen) Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448.
