Obituary

    HALBOT, Edward Bernard "Bernie" – 90, of Wilmot, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026, at home with his loving wife of more than 50 years holding his hand. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Edward and Florence (LeBlanc) Halbot.  

  Bernie retired after 32 years of service with the Canadian Armed Forces and later became a full-time avid golfer. He enjoyed golfing until his failing eyesight and dementia would no longer allow him to play. Playing bridge, square dancing, and clock making and repairs were pastimes that brought great joy to Bernie. He was a master of puns.  

  Surviving is his wife, Sharon (Carroll); his daughter, Trina (Darrell), Winnipeg; granddaughter, Dominique (Ethan); great-granddaughter, Aspyn; sister, Joyce (Jack) Crane, Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.  

  Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Joan Hogg and her husband, John; sister-in-law, Wendy Kelley; brother-in-law, Ralph Carroll.  

  Sharon wishes to extend an extra special thank you to Dr. Michelle Saxon, Barb G., Angela P., Angie S., Sharon S., Ruth S., Sue H., Hellen P., and the Victorian Order of Nurses for all their kindness and compassion for Bernie during this time.  

  Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, April 6, 2026, in St. Monica's Catholic Church, 41 Connaught Ave., Middleton. Rev. Fr. Tim Devine officiating. A reception by the CWL will follow the mass. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Kingston, at a later date.  

  Donations in memory of Bernie may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses ~ Annapolis Valley Branch or the Eye Research Centre at VG site of the QEII Health Sciences, Halifax.
