Obituary

BURKE (Young), Beth Laureen ~ It is with deep sadness that the family of Beth Laureen Burke advises of her passing at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, NS on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. A tiny little lady with a big heart, Beth loved her family dearly and prayed for them every day.

Beth was born in Halifax, grew up in the Annapolis Valley near Greenwood, NS and during her school years, she was active in track and field, singing, and writing. She was a military spouse and therefore lived in a variety of locations near military bases in the Atlantic Provinces. She had a strong work ethic and worked at a variety of jobs over the years but said her most rewarding was that of a caregiver.

Her home was always immaculate, and it has been said that nobody could rival her butter tarts, bread or spaghetti sauce. Beth had many interests including gardening and playing the piano. She also loved to play Scrabble and colour with her grandchildren. She loved summer and hated the cold but loved to go for drives in the country at any time of the year.

Beth is survived by her husband, James "Jim", Bridgewater; her children, Brian Burke, Chester; Katherine "Kathy" LeBlanc, Middleton; William "Jamie" (Linda) Burke, Lakeland, Manitoba; Kenneth Burke (Elaine Conrad), Bridgewater; Robert Burke (Sonya Walker), Bridgewater; Stephen (Nina) Burke, Beaverbank; sister, Barbara(Ron) Stuart, Edam, Sask; brothers, Vernon (Peggy) Young, Truro; David (Lorna) Walker, Edam, Sask; numerous grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Zylma (Mason) Young/Walker ; siblings, Ronnie, Joyce, Sharon, Billy, Owen and granddaughter Jessica.

We are saddened by our loss but comforted by the knowledge that she is now at peace in Heaven with her Lord and Savior. Many thanks to all the caregivers at Drumlin Hills and the doctors and nurses at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater especially Doctor Chiasson.
