Myra, Betty Joan – 89, of Centreville, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. She was born in Gold River, Lunenburg County. Betty was the daughter of the late Lawson J. and Dorothy (Lantz) Myra. Betty loved to sing and play guitar and was a familiar face at multiple music jam sessions in the Valley. She had a smile that could light up the room! She was well known for her ability to yodel. Betty was very creative and she loved to write poetry for family and friends to commemorate special occasions. She was a member of Centreville Baptist Church, Centreville, Nova Scotia. In her recent past, Betty was last employed by Walmart as a greeter and enjoyed meeting and talking to everyone. For the majority of her life, Betty worked in the Food and Beverage industry as a restaurant owner and server. She was predeceased by her parents, and first husband Donald Rodgers; second husband Albert Mason; and companion Lloyd Eisner; son Dennis Rodgers; sister Glennie Zwicker; and brother Lawson G. Myra. She is survived by: Her daughters, Linda, New Minas, NS; Carol, Hamilton, ON; son, Donald (Cindy), Moncton, NB; daughter-in-law, Gwen, Ingersoll, ON; sisters, Andrea Pearl (Hugh) Sweeney, Centreville; Arleen Ruth (Ross) Lively, Greenwood; grandchildren Jay, Andrew, Lauren, and Zachary; great grandchildren, Gracelyn, Maxx, Lexx, and Koen; as well as many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Monday, July 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the New Tremont Cemetery, 754 Tremont Mountain Road, Greenwood. Reverend Emma Batumbya officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Betty may be made to Valley Regional Hospital Foundation, Kentville.
