Beverly Marilyn
Ward
July 23, 1936 – November 6, 2025
WARD, Beverly Marilyn ~ Age 89, of Bridgetown East, formerly of West Dalhousie, Annapolis Co., N.S., passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton, with her daughter by her side. Born on July 23, 1936, in Carleton Corner, she was the only child and daughter of the late Ritchie and Mary (Morgan) Todd of West Dalhousie, Annapolis County.
In early years Bev worked in many local businesses including the Murray's Pharmacy, the Bridgetown Monitor Office and Stedman's Store, and the Frostee Freeze (now Pearls of Paradise). Bev was very particular about her appearance, ensuring that every hair was in place and lipstick perfectly applied and so she excelled in her role as an Avon Lady, winning numerous sales awards. In midlife, Bev worked beside her husband as the accountant in their family business, Edgar Ward's Nursery.
Her most cherished role was mother and wife. She was the heart of the home, talented at knitting, crocheting, and gardening and an extraordinary cook who took great pride in serving her delicious baked goods to all who visited. In later life, Bev's fierce determination to remain independent in her own home was realized with the kindness and support from dedicated family and friends, for which she was truly grateful. As a result, she continued to enjoy country life, feeding her hummingbirds and watching wildlife in the river marsh. She warmly welcomed visitors to her home to reminisce about old times and when the opportunity arose, attended local jams to listen to her favorite country music.
Her most recent accomplishment was crocheting many colorful aphagans which she happily gifted those special family members and friends. As an animal lover, she eagerly anticipated visits from the neighbor's fur babies, especially her beloved Teddy. Bev remained a dedicated member of the Bridgetown Baptist church and the Women's Fellowship committee.
Bev was predeceased by her adoring husband and soulmate of 43 years, Edgar Ward. She is survived by her loving children, daughter, Kimberly (Garth) Rafuse, Kingston, Nova Scotia; son, Robbin (Kim) Ward of Syston, England; granddaughter, Deidre (Marc) Viau, Sault Ste Marie, Ontario; step grandson, Adam Scattergood, Hugglescote, England; step granddaughter, Rebecca Glossotis, Desford, England; great grandson, Carter, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario; step great grandson, Hayden, Desford, England; Paul and Kyle, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2026, a time of year that Bev loved. Interment will be in St. Barnabus Anglican Cemetery, West Dalhousie. Donations can be made to the West Dalhousie Community Center Fire Relief Fund, the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of one's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll-free 1-855-825-3448. Online guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
