Brenda Michelle Thomson (nee Mills) of Port Lorne, Nova Scotia passed from this life to eternity with her Lord Jesus Christ, on Sunday, March 22, 2026, peacefully with her family at her side.
Brenda was born on April 20, 1975, in Hagerstown, Maryland. She is survived by her husband, Graham Thomson, whom she wed in 2008; her three children, Lauren, Preston and Colin Thomson; mother, Joanne Duffey Mills; brothers, Ray Mills Jr, Michael Mills (wife, Rhonda) and Bryan Mills; sister, Cheryl Mills; nephew, Seth Mills (wife, Hannah); niece, Kylie Mills; as well as many other loved family members. She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Clinton Mills Sr, brother Vernon Mills, and sister-in-law, Rose Mills.
Brenda lived with her family in Port Lorne, Nova Scotia, and was a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Bridgetown, Nova Scotia. Growing up in Hagerstown, Brenda learned of Jesus at a young age and counted on Him as a friend through her childhood and teenage years. Brenda graduated from high school in 1993 and achieved a Bachelor of Human Science in Human Services & Counselling from Liberty University in 1997. Brenda enjoyed her work in social services and served there until shortly after she married her love, Graham, in 2008. Brenda enjoyed athletics and was a wonderful singer performing the American national anthem at local events and singing in her local church.
Brenda battled cancer bravely in the years leading up to her passing. In her final days, she reflected that her greatest accomplishment and joy was being a mother and having the opportunity to home school her children. Despite her Christian experience throughout life, it wasn't until February 23rd, after a particularly difficult struggle with her cancer, that Brenda called her Pastor, and asked him to share the gospel with her one more time. Brenda received the Lord Jesus that day, not just as her friend, but as her Saviour. That was her day of salvation.
Visitation for Brenda will be held 6-8PM Friday, March 27, 2026, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448.
