November 22, 1932 – January 31, 2022
Corkum, Bruce Milledge ~ Age 8 9 , Kingston , passed away on January 31, 2022 , in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Feltzen South , he was a son of the late Milledge and Jenny (Colp) Corkum . Bruce served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 28 years , many of them as a Flight Engineer on the Argus . He also worked as a Purolator courier for 12 years after retiring from the service. Bruce was a member of Markland Lodge No. 99, A.F. & A.M., Kingston, past master (1987) and serving as secretary, director of ceremonies and was treasurer since 1987. He was also a member of the Red Lodge, Valley Chapter No. 16, Middleton, and an active member of Western Valley Shrine Club. He was a 50-year member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 098 Kingston. He was a former member of I.O.O.F. Bruce truly enjoyed the comradeship of these organizations. Bruce was a talented artist who grew up in Lunenburg; he was a member of the local Artists Circle and many of his paintings of ships and seascapes are in the Valley as well as across Canada. He loved to tinker and created many unconventional gadgets to solve conventional problems. Bruce enjoyed wood working and made a lot of things including clocks and motorized wooden model boats. He made and enjoyed wine for decades and loved a good single malt especially when he could share it with another "connoisseur". Bruce loved a good laugh and was surely one of the originators of the 'Dad joke'. Surviv ed by son, Michael ; daughters, Theresa aka Corky (late Scott) and Shelley (Glen) Boates; grandchildren , Tom, Hayley and Teri ; sister, Jane Bagg (late David); nephews, Bruce (Joan) Hawkin and Wayne and Tom . H e was predeceased by his wife of 64 years Alice in 2019 and niece, Heather McKeown on Jan. 7 th . Interment /Masonic Service will take place in North Kingston Cemetery at a later date. No flowers , donations in his memory may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children Canada. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448.
