STRONG, Burten John ~ Age 84, of Greenwood, Kings Co., N.S., passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on October 10, 1940, in Scotch Village, Hants Co., he was a son of the late Moston and Ida May (Leopold) Strong.
Burten served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as an Air Frame Technician retiring after many years of service. He had postings in Cold Lake, AB., Uplands, Ontario and Greenwood, NS., where he retired. He was a member of the North Mountain Gun Club, an avid hunter and enjoyed snowmobiling. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 98 Kingston.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Sylvia (Smith); daughters, Karen Strong, Greenwich; Brenda Strong, Ottawa, ON; grandchildren, Alexis and Nicholas; sister, Marlene (Tony) MacDougall, Orleans, ON; brothers, Mostyn (Joyce) Strong, Leigh (Evelyn) Strong, Chris (the late Jeannine) Strong, all of Scotch Village; Wray (Judy Bonnell) Strong, Martin's River; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Heather Dobbin; sisters, Martha Strong in infancy and Twila (Don) Fairn; brother, Laurie Strong.
In keeping with Burten's wishes, there will be no service; however, interment will be at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 98, Kingston, the North Mountain Gun Club, or a charity of choice.
