MACDEARMID, Calvin Powell-80 of Victoria Vale passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013 at the Heart of the Valley LTC, Middleton. Calvin was born in Margaretville, NS the son of the late Harry and Agnes (Little) MacDearmid. Calvin joined the Army when the Korean War was on in 1951, he was sent to Germany for Peace Keeping. After serving four years with the Military, he worked in New Brunswick, Ontario and CFB Greenwood. Calvin obtained his Interprovincial Plumbing licenses and was employed with Brown and Murphy for several years and also at the Nova Scotia Community College. Calvin loved his country music, especially Hank Snow, loved nature, bird watching, reading and planting his gardens. He loved his family, all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Calvin is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Velma (Keddy) MacDearmid; son, Alan MacDearmid, Victoria Vale; daughter, Bonnie MacDearmid (Chuck Martin),Auburn; several grandchildren an great grandchildren; sisters, Viola McLeod, Kingston, NS; Phyllis (Reg) Crouse, Victoria Vale; brothers, Len(Gayle) MacDearmid, Mississauga, ON; Murray MacDearmid, Victoria Vale; sister-in-law, Sharyn MacDearmid, Mosher`s Corner; brother-in-law, Donald Beals, Middleton, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his oldest son Tony; sisters, Yvonne, Helen and Mary and brother, Harvey. At Calvin`s request, cremation has taken place. A Graveside Service will be held 7:00PM Friday, June 14, 2013 in Church Grove Cemetery, Melvern Square with Rev. Leon Langille officiating.
