BENT, Carl Joniner Jr. ~ Age 68, of Melvern Square, Annapolis Co. formerly of Kentville and Waterville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2024, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, with family members by his side.
Born on September 17, 1955, in Berwick, Kings Co. he was a son of Margaret N. (Whitman) Bent, Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, and the late Carl W. Bent.
In his early years, Carl had been employed at Ron Smith Texaco, Berwick, and time spent playing hockey. He was a graduate of the University of Cape Breton, as a Red Seal Mechanic, a trade he worked in ever since. Carl was an associate member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 98, Kingston. He was always there for his family and friends with words of advice, being present in times of need, times of joy, times of sadness. Carl was a dedicated father and loved his children dearly. He was a jack of all trades giving a helping hand and or supervising to get er done. Everyone who met Carl instantly loved him. He was a kind gentle soul, always greeting people with his contagious smile, and loved to tease and joke around. Carl was loved dearly by his wife Darlene as he loved her. Their love was unmatched as the soulmates they were always meant to be.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, the former Darlene V. Schofield; daughter, Shelley (Alexander) Pulsifer, Centreville; son, Bradley Bent (Charmaine Hudson), Coldbrook; grandchildren, Emily, Dylan and Lakeisha; great grandchildren, Lexi, Aliza, Connor, Jack, Carson and Cohen; stepdaughters, Nathasha (Glen) Lenihan, Wilmot; Stephanie (Kevin) Seaboyer, Sackville; Brittany Gibson, New Minas; several step grandchildren; sisters, Faye (Lloyd) Ward, Weston; Marilyn Bent, Berwick; brothers, Lawrence (Dale) Bent, Greenwood; Ronald (Kelly) Bent, Okotoks, Alberta; Arthur Bent, Edmonton, Alberta; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his father, he was predeceased by his wife, the former E. Colleen Sheffield; brother, Harvey Bent.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. All are welcome to a graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 31, in Berwick Cemetery, Main St., Berwick, with Pastor David Hopper officiating. There will be a video recording of the graveside service available on Sunday afternoon below the full text of his obituary on the funeral home website. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to your favourite charity. The family would like to thank Dr. Lamont, Dr MacFarlane and Dr. Legge for all the care and support they gave to Carl.
