HAZELWOOD, Carman Lewis "Tom" - 90 of Kingston, NS passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born November 13, 1922 in Berwick, NS he was a son of the late Roy and Betty (Moore) Hazelwood. Besides his parents he was predeceased by sister, Dorothy (Williams) and brother, Barty. A Veteran of the Second World War he served in England and Africa with the RCAF from July 9, 1941 to February 4, 1946. He was awarded the Africa Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service medal and clasp, War medal 1939-45, Canadian forces Decoration and clasp. He rejoined the military January 6, 1948 to June 13, 1973 and later worked as a Real Estate Agent until retirement. Tom was President of the Kingston Legion and a past member of the 107 Valley Wing RCAFA. Carman will be sadly missed by his wife of 65 years, Alice (Spicer) Hazelwood; his nine loving children, Sheila (Wayne) Phillips, Ottawa ON; Richard (Nancy) Hazelwood, Greenwood NS; Carol Dale, Kingston NS; Michael (Louise) Hazelwood, Waltham, Que; Myrna (Douglas) Davis, Nictaux NS; Frederick (Darlean) Hazelwood, Kingston NS; Larry (Barbara) Hazelwood, Chatham ON; Robert (Wendy) Hazelwood, Cornwall PEI; Tracey Hazelwood, Ottawa, ON; thirteen grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. No visitation by request. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute conducted by Branch #98 Kingston will be held beginning at 2:00PM Thursday, January 17, 2013 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448 followed by a Funeral Service with Rev. Leon Langille officiating. Interment will take place at the North Kingston Cemetery followed by a reception at the Kingston Legion. By request, family flowers only.
