Obituary

TOWNSEND, Carman Atwood ~ 78 of North Kingston passed away peacefully at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton Sunday, May 7, 2023. Born in Lockeport, NS, he was a son of the late Alonzo and Ruby (Langille) Townsend. Carman attended Lockeport High School and was employed with McMaster Mill, Kingston as a Log Scaler for many years. After the closure of the mill, he was employed with Michelin North America in Waterville, NS. In his younger years, he was a past member of the Kingston Lions Club, past member of Kingston Baptist Church, and a member of the Melvern Square Baptist Church. Carman was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan and loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. He was fondly known to his great nieces and nephews as "Uncle Chips". Carman is survived by his daughter Patty (Allen) Pryde, Pinellas Park, Florida; daughter-in-law, Sharon Townsend, Moncton, NB; sister, Kathleen Williams, Lockeport; grandchildren Kaitlyn Pryde and Erin Pryde; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Carolyn (Longley), son John Townsend, and brother Thomas. By request, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place in the North Kingston Cemetery . A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, May 12 in Melvern Square Baptist Church, Pastor Keith Pineo & Rev. Elizabeth Amirault officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. By request, family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Melvern Square Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
