BROWN, Catherine Mame - March 12th, 1939 - March 30th, 2015. Catherine passed away at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Chéticamp, N.S., Catherine Mame was the daughter of the late William ( Marcellin and Olive Aucoin) and Hélne-Rose ( Thomas Doucette and Margaret Brewer) Doucet. Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her brother Gordon, son Dean, granddaughter Jessie and step-granddaughter Erin.Catherine Mame grew up on the family farm in Point Cross and graduated from cole NDA School in 1956. She pursued her studies at the Nova Scotia Normal College in Truro, graduating in 1957 and taught Grade 7 and 8 in Chéticamp for the next two years. She married Ronald Brown on July 27th, 1959 in Chéticamp. They resided in Wolfville from 1959 to 1967, starting their life together and raising a family of five boys. In 1967, Catherine and her family moved to Middleton where she was actively involved in the family business, Brown and Murphy Services until her illness. Catherine will forever be remembered for her faith in God and as a devote Catholic was a charter and life member of the St. Monica's Catholic Women's League. She was also reader and lay presider. She is remembered for her kindness to others, volunteerism and strong family values. Her remarkable writing skills and creativity provided many with her books, or as she called them spiritual bouquets. It is with deep sadness that we say good-bye to this very special lady. Catherine was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother and great-grand mother. She is survived by her husband Ronald of 55 years; sons: Elwin (Jacqueline) Mount Rose, Lorne (Kathy) Middleton, Gordon (Donna) Middleton and Brian (Patricia (deceased)) Middleton; siblings: Russell (Margaret) Antigonish, Therese (Gerard) Saint-Joseph-du-Moine and Marcel (Mina) Ontario; grandchildren: Nicole, Nathan, Mitchell, Tyler, Maridith, and Megan; step-grandchildren Brad, Ryan and Beth and great-grandchildren Ronin and Natalyn. Fondly remembered by nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 5 with prayers at 7:00 p.m. at the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. Funeral Mass to be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 6 from St. Monica's Catholic Church in Middleton. Interment to be held at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, St. Monica's CWL, Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, or charity of choice.
