Obituary

Woodworth, Charles Bruce "Charlie" ~ Age 89, of Kentville, Kings Co., N.S., passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving family in Valley Hospice, Kentville.

Charles was born in 1936 in Welsford, Kings Co., N.S., to the late Ken and Thelma (Ward) Woodworth. He grew up on the family farm and was predeceased by his sisters, Erdeena (George) Brannon and Phyllis (Rex) Guy.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Betty (Rafuse) Woodworth; his loving children, Suzanne (Gerard) Hatchette, Cathy Viau (Dale Bruhm), Jeff (Crystal) Woodworth, and Peter Woodworth. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Emily, Ryan, Alexis, Connor, Devin, Eric, and Alex; great-grandchildren; Sadie, Chloe, Reese, Kayleigh, Lily and Otis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Charles attended schools in Welsford, Berwick, and at Central Kings Rural High. He worked briefly for Canada Packers, graduated from Radio College in Toronto, spent eight years as a television repair technician with Ditmar and McNeils in Middleton, and later worked for Maritime Tel & Tel for 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a long-time member of the Kentville United Baptist Church.

Charlie and Betty were avid travelers, visiting destinations all over Canada, USA and Europe.  He enjoyed camping at Rissers Beach and was always accompanied by family and grandchildren. He loved walking, playing cards, puzzle books, Saturday breakfasts with friends, square dancing and spending time with family. He especially loved tending to his yard and feeding the birds, with a fondness for cardinals. Charlie was known for his poetic birthday cards, warm sense of humour, turkey dinners, yummy pies, mustard pickles, Grampy's workshop and love of bringing family together.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A service in celebration of Charlie's life will take place at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 20 , in Berwick & District Lions Hall, Wilson Family Community Room, Kings Mutual Century Centre, 250 Veterans Drive, Berwick. Rev. Dr. David Bielby officiating with a reception to follow.

Interment will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Valley Hospice Foundation, Victorian Order of Nurses - Annapolis Valley Branch, Annapolis Valley Palliative Care or a charity of your choice,

The family would like to say a special thank you to all the nurses and doctors who provided care to Charlie. Also the Palliative Care Team, Victorian Order of Nurses and Valley Hospice. The family are truly grateful to the many friends, neighbors and church members who provided food, friendship, and support.
