FRASER, Charles Elliott "Charlie" ~ Age 82, of Berwick, formerly of Waterville, Kings Co., passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2025, at home. Born on September 24, 1942, in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, he was a son of the late John and Dollie (MacDonald) Fraser.
In his younger years, Charlie enjoyed the time he was employed in the logging and mining industry in both Nova Scotia and British Columbia. He retired as a stationary engineer at Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre. Charlie had a love for music, politics, reading, photography and genealogy. He had a passion for writing and had weekly columns in the Berwick Register and Kentville Advertiser newspapers for many years. Charlie had served on the Village Commission for the Village of Cornwallis Square and had been a member of Kings County School Board. He was a County Councilor for the Municipality of the County of Kings, where he had served as Warden for a number of years. Charlie had also served on the boards of Grand View Manor, Valley Regional Hospital, Valley Hospice and Western Kings Health Centre, where he was Chairman.
Surviving are daughters, Belinda Fraser, Truro; Wanda Lacoursiere, Albuquerque. New Mexico; Angie Fraser, Berwick; grandchildren, Blake and Lauren Lacoursiere, both of New Mexico; Elliott Lushman, Berwick; sister, Jessie (the late Willie) Chernoff of British Columbia; sister-in-law, Marion Fraser, of British Columbia; brother-in-law, Bruce Cliff, of Alberta; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, the former Martha J. Kennedy; brothers, Nelson, Donald and Hector Fraser; sister, Margaret Cliff.
There will be no visitation. All are welcome to attend a service in celebration of Charlie's life at 2 p.m., Friday, February 21, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Rev. Chad Clements will officiate, with a time of fellowship and refreshments following until 4 p.m. Interment will take place in Berwick Cemetery, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Waterville & District Volunteer Fire Department, Kings Co. S.P.C.A. or to your favourite charity.
