BENNETT, Charles William Harold - 87 of Mosher's Corner passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born November 11, 1924 in Douglasville, Annapolis County, he was the son of the late Henry and Alice (Parrish) Bennett. Charles was a member of the United Pentecostal Church, Ham Radio Club (VE1 MYR) and the CB Radio Club (Mountain Mayor). He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor even in the face of adversity, cheery optimistic attitude and his determination to succeed at whatever challenges life brought to him. He loved life and enjoyed the many people he met along the way. He took great pleasure from chatting with his many friends on the Ham Radio and CB, tinkering with motors, woodworking, cooking, listening to music as well as audio material provided by CNIB Library, playing crokinole and family gatherings. Charles is survived by his wife of 64 years, Vivian; sons, Robert and Henry, both of St. Catherines, ON; Lawrence (Esther), Mount Hanley; Douglas, Wilmot; daughter, Alice (Wayne) Whynott, Greenwood, sister, Marjorie Whitman, Lawrencetown; 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers, George, Freeman and Lawrence; sister, Hattie Robar and granddaughter, Elizabeth Bennett. Visitation will be held 7-9 PM, Sunday, February 12, 2012 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. (902) 825-3448. The funeral service will be held 2PM, Monday, February 13, 2012 in the United Pentecostal Church, 500 Main St., Middleton with Rev. Dean Dickinson officiating.
