Obituary

WELTON, Charles Huntington – age 94, of Middleton, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018 in the Veterans' Unit of Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Middleton, he was the son of the late Ernest "Malcom" and Nellie (Fraser Mackintosh) Welton. Charles was a Veteran of the Second World War, having served in Continental Europe, United Kingdom and the Central Mediterranean area. After his discharge from the Army, he worked for Allen's Mill in Middleton and then for the Civil Service at CFB Greenwood, retiring in 1976. Charles was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 1, Middleton for many years. He enjoyed working on cars, hunting, going to yard sales, playing bingo and crib, fishing, woodworking and going for long drives with his wife Marjorie. Charles is survived by his wife of 70 years, the former Marjorie Feener; daughter Lois Murphy (John Blacquiere), Greenwood; sons, Keith (Heather) Welton, Wilmot; Ken Welton (Dot Butler), Kingston; sister Dora Hawkesworth, Middleton; brothers, Walter (Kelly), Petawawa, ON and John (Shirley), Calgary, AB; grandchildren Michelle (Mike) Dowell, Middleton;  Melissa Welton (Tim Call), Calgary, AB; Shane Welton, Middleton; Wayne Lacroix, Calgary; Brandon Murphy and Bradley Murphy both of  Greenwood; great-grandchildren Bailey, Callie, Darius, Dawson, Krista and Kurtis and great-great-granddaughter Lindsay. Besides his parents, Charles was predeceased by sisters, Melzina Thibeault, Elmira Wilkins, Florence Heisler and infant sister Rose; brother-in-law Jim Hawkesworth; grand-daughter-in-law Mellisa Clayton-Welton and granddaughter Sherry Lee Marie Baker. Visitation will be 7 pm to 9 pm, Friday, March 16th in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., 902-825-3448. A Legion Tribute conducted by Middleton Legion Branch No. 1 will be held at 2 pm Saturday, March 17th in the Middleton Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Service with Rev. Leon Langille officiating. Interment will be in Tremont Cemetery. A reception will follow for family and friends at the Middleton Legion.
