Christine
Griffin
August 4, 1943 – September 1, 2023
G riffin, Christine was born in Sussex, England on Aug. 4th, 1943, to a Canadian Soldier and an English war-bride, Wendell and Kathleen (Page) Frank. In 1946, she and her mom sailed on the Queen Mary to Canada, landing at Pier 21. As a young woman, she married, raised a family, pursued her studies, and became an educator.
With her second husband Paddy Griffin, she spent her retirement years on Gabriola Island where she enjoyed watercolour, jogging, gardening, and collecting antique silver. Winters were spent in Mexico. After Paddy's passing in 2018, and as her Parkinson's progressed, she moved to Vancouver. With the help of her sister, Rhetty, and close friends she was able to remain at home until Sept 1st, where she passed on her own terms with dignity and grace.
Christine is survived by her son Eamonn Garlick - Chetwynd, BC; five grandchildren: Jeremy, Jade, Brett, Tayla and Brie; three great grand-children; her sisters Rhetty (Christopher) Friesen - Vancouver, BC - and Carol (Cecil) Robicheau - Middleton, N.S; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her best friend and loving husband Paddy Griffin, her parents, her son Cameron, and her two brothers Ted and Derek.
As per her wishes there will be no funeral service. However, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Society or a charity of your choice.
