TUFTS, Christopher Rutledge - 62 of Digby, NS passed away at home, on July 2, 2013, after a brief but brave struggle with cancer. Born on November 19, 1950, he was the only child of the late Ernest and Adelaide (Rutledge) Tufts. He is survived by his cousin, John (Cheryl) Tufts, of Paradise, Annapolis County and his aunt, Eva Ogilvie, of Berwick, Kings County. Also left to mourn his passing are his "extended family", Ruth and Gordon Adams, of Digby, and their daughters, Melissa (Michael) and Amanda (James), who he had shared a lifetime of happy memories. Chris also leaves behind many close friendships, several of which began in childhood. Chris lived an active and full life in his hometown of Digby, where he enjoyed many social and volunteer activities. He was a dedicated employee of Tideview Terrace Nursing Home, for 33 years where he enjoyed the camaraderie and friendship of his peers and the Residents, until his retirement in 2010. He was a longtime member of the Digby East Fish and Game Association, where he loved to camp, and faithfully attended the Saturday night dances. He could always be relied upon to lend a hand whenever needed. He enjoyed cruising with the Digby County ATV Club, was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion and was an annual volunteer at the Christmas Daddies Telethon in Digby. Chris was a very loyal friend to many and always enjoyed helping out a friend, or even a stranger, in need. He had a very kind heart and always had a story to tell or a memory to reminisce or share. He will be sadly missed and always remembered by those who feel the strength of his loss. As per Chris' wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, July 6, at 11:00 am in the Digby United Pentecostal Church, 119 Prince William Street, Rev. Jeffrey T. Cowan, officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Aylesford Union Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Research Society, Christmas Daddies (Digby) or a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448. On-line guest book may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
