Clarissa Bondy

Bondy, Clarissa (Keeping) - Age 95, of Greenwood, NS passed away Wednesday October 7, 2026, in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Burnt Islands, Newfoundland on September 4, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Elsie (Prior) Keeping.

Clarissa “Class” trained as a teacher and taught in Newfoundland as a young woman. She joined the Royal Canadian Airforce in 1957 and served for 5 years, a time she looked back on with great happiness. During that time, she met her husband-to-be, the late Thomas Bondy, and they were married in Winnipeg in 1961. Their loving marriage lasted over 60 years. Throughout her life she was a devoted member of the Catholic Women’s League and retained a passionate love of books and learning.

Clarissa is survived by her daughters, Genevieve (Brian Belliveau) Bondy, Greenwich and Laura (Wade) Podaima, Winnipeg; by her brother, Randall (Anne) Keeping and sisters, Shirley (Grant) Neilson and Linda Smith, and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Hiram and Elsie, and by brothers Hiram, Donald, Allan and Max, and sisters Emma Griffiths and Martha Gale.

Cremation has taken place. A mass will be held at Queen of Heaven Chapel in Greenwood, NS at a future date. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
