HARTLEN, Clifford Rupert- Age 101 of Kingston, NS. It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of our Dad on Saturday, October 22, 2016. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Harold and Edna (Longuiel) Hartlen. Clifford was a survivor of the Halifax explosion and was the last member of his immediate family. After working for many years with Prudential Insurance, Halifax, Clifford and his wife "Gertie" retired to Kingston and resided there until his passing. He is survived by a daughter Carol (Hugh) Chisholm, Granville Ferry; sons Kenneth (Faye), Kingston and Ronald (Sheila), Wilmot; grandchildren – Kevin & Karen Anne Chisholm, Mike, Sue, Sean, Rhonda and Tracey Hartlen and Jill and Eddie Hartlen; great grandchildren- Katelyn and Paige McMillan, Emily Chisholm and Megan and Mallory Hartlen. Clifford was predeceased by his wife the former Marion Gertrude "Gertie" Appleby and a grandson Michael Chisholm. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, October 25th in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 from where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 26th with Rev. Linda Winton officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be in the Kingston United Cemetery. Donations in Cliff's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia or to a charity of choice. The family would to extend many thanks to Barb Kennedy and staff for the excellent care and kindness they gave to Cliff during his time there.
