Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of Curtis Deforest Acker, of Kentville, NS announce his peaceful passing on February 20, 2026, at the age of 68.

He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and great-uncle who loved his family deeply. He shared a lifelong bond with his brothers Harold Acker and Richard Acker and sister Sharon Acker. He took great pride in being an uncle and great-uncle. His love for his nieces and nephews was steady, proud and they always knew how much they meant to him. Nieces Alyssa (Branden), Felicia, Melina, Christina, and Vanessa; Nephews Shawn (Cailin), Nick (Sarah), Travis, Jimmy (Amanda) and Allen; Great-nieces and nephews Ellie, Eleanor, Olivia, Sydney, Ellie Rose, Ysabel, Kaitlin, and Austin.

Curtis was predeceased by his loving parents Curtis and Leona Acker. His nephew Travis and his aunts, Audrey (Kenny) and Jerri (Lester).

Curtis had a natural talent for creating and building. He joined the Navy at a young age as a radar plotter. He then transferred to the Institute of Technology where he studied marine electronics and worked for Rosborough Boats. Curtis then started his own Turbine company. His love for technology and how we could make the world a better place was well known by those who knew him. His family and friends always enjoyed hearing about his new ideas.

Curtis was kind at heart. His relationships were built on laughter, loyalty and more than a little stubborn determination. He loved dogs, especially Willow and Rocky, who brought him joy and companionship. Curtis will be remembered for his steady love, his quiet acts of care, his humor, and his strong will. He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and who will carry his memory in their hearts always.

A special thank you to the staff at Valley Regional Hospital ICU and the Cardiology team for your kind and compassionate care. Memorial donations can be made to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation or the SPCA Nova Scotia
