Obituary

23 January 2026, Cyrus Frederick Miller, of Middleton NS, passed away peacefully in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Halifax, Cyrus lived to be 89 years old. Along with his parents, Otis and Bessie, he was predeceased by his sisters and brothers: Bertha, Clarissa, Teddy, Ethel, Aubrey, Connie, Olive, Russell, and Grace.

Cyrus leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years Emily (Dickinson); his three children Susan (Peter) of Salmon River, NS; Robert (Stacey) of Riverview, NB; and Greg (Janice) of Middleton, NS; his eight grandchildren Jason, Luke, Tyler, Jeremy, Lindsay, Benjamin, Thomas, and Annie; as well as five great-grandchildren Allison, Madison, Eloise, Walter, Clara, and Catherine.

Cyrus worked as a policeman for the city of Halifax before joining the Registry of Motor Vehicles. He was an all-round athlete known mostly for his skill in hockey. Cyrus was a stamp collector, an avid reader, and crossword puzzle enthusiast. He was also known for donating blood to the Red Cross for decades totalling over 300 donations.

In keeping with his wishes, Cyrus has been cremated. A service will take place in the West Brook Cemetery at a later date. Donations in Cyrus' memory may be made to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or Soldiers' Memorial Hospital Foundation.
