Obituary

WAGNER, Darrell Leroy – Age 94 died peacefully at home on April 5, 2017. Born in Riverdale, NS he was a son of the late Peter and Lizzie Belle (Mullen) Wagner. He was a proud veteran, beloved husband, wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Darrell served in the RCAF from 1939 -45, serving overseas. In Newfoundland after which he met and married his wife of 68 years, they lived in Toronto, Freeport and Weymouth before settling on the homestead in Riverdale and raising five children. Darrell worked at various jobs including a scaler for Bowater Mersey and Lewis Sawmill. He was an avid gardener, armchair political junkie and hockey fan as well as a farmer and woodsman. He was a faithful member of the Southville Church of Christ where he kept the hymnbooks and chairs glued and in good repair. He loved music of all genres and in later years spent every afternoon listening to his many CD'S. He is survived by his wife Eileen (Hebb), his five children;

  1. Deborah (Bruce) Hankinson and their children- Andrew (Catherine), Banbury, England, Isaac(Leanne), Settler, AB, Paul, Yiwu, China and Rebecca (John) Stevenson, New Haven, PEI.
  1. Dianne (Richard) Nesbitt, Weymouth and their children – Ryan (Denise), Dartmouth, Jessica (Jamie) Lewis, Megan (Justin) Oliver, Digby.
  1. Peter and his children – Jordon, Abby (Dave) Boychuk and Levi all of Fort Mac. AB.
  1. Donna (Joey Muise) Concession, NS
  1. Robert (Susanne) Victoria Vale, NS

He is also survived by great grandchildren Riley, Charlotte and Liam Lewis, Lily Wagner, Madelyn Wagner, Kenzie and Callie Nesbitt, Nia Boychuk, Adelaide and Alden Stevenson, Julia Oliver. Surviving siblings; Althea Saunders, Digby, Vivian Cossaboom. Tiverton, Reta Thurber, Digby, Myrtle (George) Theriault, Digby. In-laws Ken and Meredith Hebb, Geraldine Bent, David Hebb, Brian and Lillian Hebb all of Annapolis. Many nieces and nephews. Darrell was predeceased by siblings Erma Kaminski, Hilda Morehouse, Nevins Wagner, Melba Morehouse, Kenneth Wagner, Stewart and Stanley Wagner, Carol Hall and longtime Air Force friend, Jim Venables. By request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, April 23rd in the Southville Church of Christ with Lou Outhouse and Merle Zimmerman officiating, with a reception to follow. Private interment will take place in the Southville Church of Christ Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in Darrell's memory can be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses or a Charity of Choice.
