David Gordon
Hiltz
March 14, 1952 – May 13, 2024
It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the sudden passing of David Gordon Hiltz, of Cambridge, Kings Co. Dave passed away peacefully, at age 72, on Monday, May 13, 2024, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Berwick, Kings Co., on March 14, 1952, he was the son of the late Basil G. Hiltz and Marion R. (Robar) Moriarity.
Besides his parents, Dave was predeceased by the love of his life of 46 years, wife Marlyn J. Ward. Survived by siblings, Barb Dempsey (Mike), Shelley Banks (Tim), Myrna Moriarity (Art), Roger Moriarity (Angela) and Cecil Moriarity (Mabel); one nephew and several nieces, (April-Cool Carrot) to Dave. Beloved father figure to Marlyn's children, Darlene Illsley (Rick) and Ken Ward (Michele). Dearly loved grandfather to Andrea, Brandon and Cody; plus great Grampy to Brody, Hunter, Tyson Kashton and Maia; also missed by his loving companion, Linda Sheehan.
Dave worked at various jobs throughout his life, construction, mechanics, a jack of all trades, until forced into an early retirement due to health issues. He remained the most positive and happy person that we knew in the face of adversity. Dave proudly served as a volunteer fire fighter with Waterville & District Volunteer Fire Department with 27 years of service. Cook outs at the shore will never be the same without Dave. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
All are welcome to attend a graveside service at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 3, in Lakeview Cemetery, Highway 221, Lakeville, with Pastor Christina Bigelow officiating.
