David Owen Loomer 80 born in Windsor, Nova Scotia to Earle and Verna (Neaves) Loomer passed away May 4th, 2015 at Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, Nova Scotia. Survived by his wife, Ruby Marlene (Carey); son David Alexander (Alex), Kingston; daughter, Shannon Dawn, Toronto; grandchildren, Mya, Hayley, Ariel, and Shiloh,; sister Bernice, Montreal. Predeceased by infant daughter, Bronwyn; brothers, Leslie, Kenneth, and Paul. In his early years, he played trumpet in a band, and could often be found driving his motorcycle around the province. He enjoyed playing his guitar, loved boat racing and seemed to know all the best fishing places. He also loved playing billiards with friends. In his working life he managed greenhouses in the Annapolis Valley, created a par 3 golf course, and then set up his own machine shop. Wood working became a passion, which was a good outlet for his off-beat sense of humour. He also enjoyed his time serving on the village commission in Kingston for many years. Later in his life he struggled with illness. He met these challenges with a rare mixture of gritty determination and undying wit. Family life brought him much joy. He inspired an environment of creativity and kinship within his family and was adored by his grand-children. He will be missed. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 8, 2015 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448, with Rev. Leon Langille officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting any memorial donations be made to the Diabetes Association or the Arthritis Society.
